April 2022 Newsletter

Posted on April 25th, 2022

 Travel Vaccinations

Do think about your travel vaccinations and give us at least 6 weeks’ notice prior to going.  You will need to complete a form on our website, which the nurse will then review and we will contact you to advise what is required. If we do not have enough notice you may be asked to make an appointment at a Travel Clinic

Patient Helpdesk – update and notice of service closure

The Patient Helpdesk has now closed. From April 2022, patients waiting to hear about hospital appointment or operation waiting times are encouraged to use the new NHS My Planned Care platform that is available online and will provide direct access to the latest average wait time for appointments and operations for local hospitals, as well as helpful advice and support for patients whilst they wait.

NHS My Planned Care is updated weekly, is easy-to-use and has ‘open access’ which enables carers, friends, and relatives to also access information on someone else’s behalf.

Alternatively, patients who have already been in correspondence with hospitals regarding their planned care can also contact the relevant department or service. Details of which can be found on previous letters patients will have received or by contacting the hospital’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)

Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS)

We are participating in a new service that will direct patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional when booking an appointment, which will be our Pharmacist Alex, either by telephone or at our Pharmacy.

Alex is a highly trained and skilled clinician experienced in treating minor illnesses. This will help free up GPs to deal with more complex health needs and ensure that everyone gets treated at the right time, by the right healthcare professional.

We will be listening to patients about their experience of using this service to inform how we can improve things, and so are keen to hear your views.  You will be advised how to give this feedback when you access the Community Pharmacy Service.

Covid-19 Boosters

These are available in the Pharmacy, to book an appointment please visit the national booking website.
