Covid-19 Vaccination Programme

COVID-19 Vaccination programme

Cambridge Northern Villages Primary Care Network (PCN)
GP practices in Over, Swavesey, Willingham, Histon, Bar Hill, Milton, Cottenham and Waterbeach have started to deliver Covid-19 vaccinations to local residents aged over 70, as the roll out of the biggest vaccination programme in NHS history gains further momentum.
Practices across these villages are now inviting their patients in the priority groups to receive the Covid-19 vaccine as part of the latest phase of the vaccine roll-out.
The practices are:
• Cottenham Surgery, Cottenham,
• Firs House Medical Partnership- Histon and Cottenham
• Maple Surgery, Bar Hill
• Milton Surgery, Milton
• Over Surgery, Over
• Swavesey Surgery, Swavesey
• Waterbeach Surgery, Waterbeach
• Willingham Medical Practice, Willingham
Eligible patients will be contacted direct to book an appointment. There are two dedicated vaccination hubs in Over and Milton which means some patients will have to visit a different practice to their usual one to receive their vaccination. Full details will be given to patients when contacted.
Dr Simon Poole and Dr Craig Needs, Clinical Directors of Cambridge Northern Villages PCN said, “As local GPs we are so proud of the huge effort made by everyone involved to support the biggest national immunisation campaign in history. Everyone at the GP practices involved has had a part to play, and we simply could not have done it without such a fantastic team effort.
“Protecting our most vulnerable local residents against Covid-19 is so important to us all and we encourage local residents to take this opportunity up when they’re contacted.
“Please do not call the GP practice to book, we will contact you. When you attend your appointment, you will need to follow social distancing guidance, bring and wear a face masks or visor, and follow hand hygiene guidance. These steps help to save lives.”
GP sites providing jabs will be spread across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, more will join on a phased basis.
The latest phase of the vaccine roll-out is being co-ordinated by GP-led Primary Care Networks (PCNs) with more practices and community pharmacies in other parts of England joining on a phased basis during the New Year.

Patients are asked not to contact the surgeries regarding COVID-19 Vaccinations.

Vaccine update: April 2021

Over the last four months we have vaccinated thousands of patients and are so grateful to all of our staff and local volunteers whose hard work, support and dedication has enabled us to help deliver the vaccine to our patients who are most at risk of Covid-19.

The vaccine programme is now entering Phase 2 which will focus on cohorts 10 -12 (ages 18 – 49). Whilst we will continue to provide second doses to our patients who received their first dose through the practice, we have taken the decision to opt out of offering vaccination services for Phase 2 cohorts to enable us to focus on our day-to-day GP services.

Patients in cohorts 10 – 12 (ages 18-49) will be invited for their vaccine via a text or letter from the National Booking Service and will be able to book an appointment online via nhs.uk/covidvaccination or by calling 119 at one of the local Vaccination Centres.

Patients awaiting their second doses are asked not to contact the practice – we will contact you when it is the right time to book your appointment.

Any patient in cohort 1-9 who has not yet received their vaccine can also still book online via nhs.uk/covidvaccination or by calling 119.

Whether you have had the vaccine or not, please continue to follow all the guidance in place to control the virus and save lives.
