Mumps national increase

Please be aware that there has been an increase in cases of mumps nationally. From 1 January to 31st May 2019 there have been 2,232 laboratory confirmed cases of mumps with the North West (534), East Midlands (440), South East (243), South West (235) and London (201) reporting the most cases.
The majority of cases (68%) have been in individuals aged 15 to 24 years and a number of outbreaks linked to universities and colleges have been reported. 51% of cases had no documented dose of MMR.
Patients over the age of three years and four months who do not have two recorded doses of MMR vaccine remain eligible.
There is no upper age limit to offering MMR vaccine
